Field Trips and Group Visits in Athens, Georgia

The Church-Waddel-Brumby House Museum (ca. 1820), located at the Historic Athens Welcome Center, is your destination for memorable and educational field trips in Athens, Georgia. We love hosting students and youth groups for engaging, standards-aligned field trips that bring local history to life.

Free Field Trip Eligibility

We are proud to offer free field trips for:

  • All Clarke County School District schools

  • Nonprofit community partner youth programs

  • After-school and summer programs serving low‑income or underserved students

  • Homeschool groups meeting specific income‑based criteria

  • Scout troops whose members are majority from underserved communities

Funding for these programs is limited and provided through grants and donations. Free field trips are scheduled on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

Learn about our field trips

  • Complete our online request form at least two weeks in advance. A staff member will confirm within 2–3 business days. Final headcount is due 48 hours before your trip.

  • Yes! Our programs support multiple GSE standards. We can tailor content to your grade level

  • Most visits run 1-2 hours, but we can adjust for your schedule.

  • Standard rate is $5 per student, with free admission for teachers and one chaperone per 10 students.

  • Teachers and chaperones are responsible for student behavior at all times. Please review our behavior expectations in advance.

  • We may take photos during your visit for educational and promotional purposes. If any students cannot be photographed, please let us know before your trip begins.
